Configuring UNIBOX controllers

Purpose of this document

  • This document should be used in conjunction with UNIBOX user guide for configuring your UNIBOX gateways in WiFiLAN. Please refer to WiFiLAN administrator guide and UNIBOX user guide for detail information.
  • It is assumed that the user has basic knowledge of networking including configuring subnet mask, RADIUS setting, default gateway and DNS configuration.
  • In order to configure UNIBOX you will need a static IP address, Subnet mask, default gateway and DNS information given to you by your Internet Service Provider. Please keep this information handy while setting up your gateway.
  • Configuring WiFiLan you will need the WAN public IP address, AP MAC address, RADIUS secret, serial number and public IP address of your UNIBOX gateway.
  • You need an active WiFiLan account. Please contact Wifi-soft sales to create your WiFiLan account.

 

 

UNIBOX Setup

It is assumed that that you have properly connected your UNIBOX gateway with a broadband connection, which has a static or dynamic public IP address.

Open web browser. Type 10.10.10.1 (gateway IP), or type http://login.secureunibox.com/(domain name) and press Enter.

UNIBOX Welcome screen appears.

Create New Profile

  1. Click Authentication tab.
  2. Click New Profile link (in the left pane) under Profile link. Authentication :: New Profile page appears.

Fields & Buttons

Description

Profile Information

Profile Name

Enter a name In The Profile Name field.

Primary Authentication Server

Enter the primary RADIUS IP address in the Primary Authentication Server field.

Secondary Authentication Server

Enter the secondary RADIUS IP address in the Secondary Authentication Server field.

RADIUS Secret

Enter secret in the RADIUS Secret field. The secret should match the secret in WiFiLan.

Confirm RADIUS Secret

Re-enter the secret in the Confirm RADIUS Secret field.

Port Settings

Authentication Port

Enter the authentication port number 1812 in the Authentication Port field.

Accounting Port

Enter the accounting port number 1813 in the Accounting Port field.

General Settings

NAS ID

Select NAS ID check box.

Interval

Enter the time in seconds for Send Interim Updates Interval.

Submit

Click Submit to save the changes.

Authentication Mode

  1. Click Authentication tab.
  2. Click Authentication Mode link (in the left pane). Authentication :: Authentication Mode page appears.

  3. Select Remote Authentication radio button, and select the profile you created from the drop down menu.

  4. Click Save to save the changes.

 

Set up Portal Page

To setup Portal Page

  1. Click Authentication tab.
  2. Click Portal Page link (in the left pane) under Portal link. Authentication :: Portal Page page appears.

  3. Click External Portal Page radio button, and enter the URL in the field.

  4. Select Customized Welcome URL radio button and enter this URL http://wp1.wifi-soft.com/portal/default/loginIframeSuccess.php in the field.

  5. Click Submit to save the changes.

 

Set Passthrough URL

  1. Click Passthrough URL link under Authentication link. Authentication :: List Passthrough URL page appears.

  2. Click New Passthrough URL link (in the left pane). Authentication :: New Passthrough URL page appears.

  3. Enter Passthrough URL in the URL Add wifi-soft.com and wifisoft.net to make sure that the user provisioning and account management features work correctly.

  4. Enter a short description for the URL in Description

  5. Click Submit to save the changes.

 

WiFiLan Setup

Add Location:

  1. Open a web browser and type https://www.wifi-soft.net/wifilan2.1/ and press Enter. Welcome screen of WiFiLan appears.
  2. Click the Locations link under Radius Manage Locations page appears.
  3. Click the New Location tab. The New Location page appears.

Fields and Buttons

Description

Location Name

Enter the name of the location in the Location Name field.

Address

Enter the address of the location in the Address field.

City

Enter the name of the city of the location in the City field.

State

Select the name of the state from the State drop down list.

Zip Code

Enter the zip code of the location in the Zip Code field.

Latitude

Enter the Latitude of the location in the Latitude field.

Longitude

Enter the Longitude of the location in the Longitude field.

Type

Select the type of location from the Type drop down menu.

Is Paid

Click Is Paid check box if the location is charged.

Auto MAC Register

Select Auto MAC Register check box to enable the auto login feature in WiFiLan.

Submit

Click Submit button to save the changes.

Add User Group

To add User Group

  1. Click New Group tab under Groups link (in the left pane). New Group page will appear.

  2. Enter a name for the group in the Group Name

  3. Enter a short description of the group in the Description

  4. Select the location of the group from the Location drop down menu.

  5. Click Submit to save the changes.

 

Gateway Configuration

To add Gateway

  1. Click the Radius link.
  2. Click New Gateway tab under Gateways link (in the left pane). New Radius Gateway page will appear.

Fields & Buttons

Description

Device Type

Select UNIBOX from the Device Type drop down menu.

Hotspot Name

Enter Hotspot (Location) name in the Hotspot Name field.

IP Address

Enter Public IP Address of the gateway in the IP Address field.

Secret

Enter the RADIUS secret configured in the gateway in the Secret field.

NAS ID

Enter a Unique NAS Identifier for the device in the NAS ID field.

MAC Address

Enter the MAC address of the WAN port in the MAC Address field.

Description

Enter a short description for the device

Location

Select the location where the gateway is installed from the Location drop down menu.

Configuration of your gateway is ready for RADIUS authentication. Now you can configure the login and welcome URL for your gateway, so that user can enter username and password that will be sent to our RADIUS server for authentication.

Please make sure that Username will be username@realm on your login pages. So it will be easier for WiFiLan to give support in future.
