UniBox is designed to work on layer-2 i.e. using the user's MAC address. As a result, for majority of the cases, UniBox needs to be deployed in-line (inside) the managed network.
In short, UniBox functions as a gateway inside the WLAN or wired network and all the traffic flows through the UniBox. UniBox also runs a DHCP server and manages the IP address scheme on the network.
Because of the above restriction, UniBox can't be deployed centrally in the data center to manage multiple WLAN hotspots.
Users who need centralized management, can evaluate our WiFiLAN product.
