How to configure SNMP Agent and Traps

To configure SNMP agent and SNMP traps

  1. Click Network
  2. Click SNMP link (in the left pane) under SNMP link. Network :: SNMP page appears.

Description

SNMP Agent Settings

Enable SNMP Agent

Select Enable SNMP check box to enable the Enable SNMP Agent, Port Number, and Community Name field.

Port Number

Enter the port number which will be used to respond to SNMP request. The default port number is 161.

Community Name

Enter a password in the Community Name field that controls access to the SNMP information. Network Management program must supply this password when attempting to set or get SNMP information.

SNMP Trap Settings

Enable SNMP traps

Select Enable SNMP traps check box to enable the Host IP Address, Host Port Number, and Community Name fields.

Host IP Address

Enter the IP address of host to which SNMP traps will be sent in the Host IP Address field.

Host Port Number

Enter the host port number that will send the traps in the Host Port Number field. The default port number is 162.

Community Name

Enter a password required by remote host which will receive the traps in the Community Name field.

Select traps

Select the Heartbeat traps check box to enable the heartbeat traps. And enter the time interval for Heartbeat traps in minutes in the Interval field.
